Travelling by car

If you come from the west of Switzerland, you can reach Montana by the motorway A9.
Coming from the German part of Switzerland, we recommend putting your car on the train at Kandersteg and travelling through the Lötschberg tunnel to Goppenstein, which leaves about a 45 minutes drive to Montana.
If you come from either Italy or the Tessin region, enjoy the spectacular views by driving over the Simplon pass.

Travelling by train and bus

Travelling by train

The Swiss rail network is renowned for its efficiency and reliability. The nearest mainline station to Montana is Sierre/Siders, an official stop on the Geneva-Lausanne-Sion-Brig line.
Travelling from Germany, you would take the Lötschberg line ( Bern-Kandersteg-Goppenstein-Brig & Sierre).
From Geneva, the train departs directly from the airport terminal and travels alongside Lake Geneva before following the Rhone river in the direction of Brig. After rounding the bend at Martigny, a further 20 mins. will take you to Sierre.
The Centovalli line (Locarno-Domodossola-Brig- Sierre) is a truly breathtaking stretch of railway, which will transport you from the Tessin region to the Valais.

Using the Funicular

On alighting in Sierre/Siders, look for the red line painted on the pavement in front of the station building. Follow this for 5 minutes and you will arrive at the funicular station. In high season , a shuttle bus operates between the two stations. The funicular runs approx. every 30 minutes and once in Montana, you can either take a taxi or arrange in advance to be collected by the hotel bus.

Bus - S.M.C

An alternative solution to the funicular is to take the SMC bus, which stops outside the railway station at Sierre. This journey is a little longer than the funicular, but the bus stop is closer to the hotel. ( Ask the driver to stop for you to alight at “Albert premier” or the “Forum d’Ycoor” ). This bus service is also useful for any local sight-seeing you may wish to do.
